Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire

This fragrance had me at hello. I received a sample and from the first spritz I was mesmerised. I had never smelt anything like this creation. I’m normally a light fruity floral lover and while there are fruity and floral elements the liquorice and black tea make this scent unique and darker.

I always get amused by how perfumes are described. They’re usually so over the top and inaccurate but I think this one is spot on.

Guerlain la petite robe noire

Sephora says,

Its simple signature enhances and romances several exceptional materials in a bold overdose—black cherry blinks the first wink. It is illustrated by a clever blend that extends exquisite almond and delicious berries. The second wink takes place as rose enters the stage. Finally, the shadowy temptations of licorice and smoky black tea are ever-so-revealing and lead to irresistible seduction. For the ultimate temptation, the entire creation is wrapped in Guerlinade—fresh, enigmatic, and exhilarating, mischievous and captivating.

Initially the top notes are cherry. I like the sweetness and freshness but not too tart. I think the fruitiness makes this scent more fun and feminine. Now if you don’t like liquorice then stay away because once the scent settles you do get a strong aniseed aroma. I adore it, I think the liquorice and tea transform a fruity scent into a sexy sophisticated fragrance. Perfect for fall/ winter or evening.

The bottle is also so chic. It looks fantastic on my dressing table and I love having this perfume in my collection.

Also being an Eau de parfum means this lasts on my skin for hours. If anything I have to be careful not to spray too much so I don’t get a headache. Usually one spritz is all I need.

I had never thought to look to Guerlain for my next perfume thinking they would be too mature but La Petite Robe Noire is youthful and modern. I can’t rave about this enough and urge everyone to stop by a counter and smell this divine scent.
